JANUARY 16, 2008 UPDATES: Tokalah; BabyDoll; Our Petting Zoo; Raven |
|
DECEMBER 28, 2007 ~Hope you all had a nice Christmas. Bruce and I spent the first week of December visiting with my parents in Florida. It was a nice trip and the weather was beautiful. It seems that in this past year we have done a lot of traveling. Three trips to Florida, three weeks in Canada, four days in Connecticut. Though it was a lot of fun, we plan to settle in at home for the 2008 season and do some farm projects and to breed some of our new miniatures. Of course I'll still make the occasional trip to Florida to visit my parents. ~Wishing you a Happy New Year. Bruce and I are going to Cooldog to hear Andy and Denise perform. Take care. UPDATES: Our Petting Zoo ~New photos, critters, and updates. |

NOVEMBER 27, 2007 ~Hope you all had a nice Holiday. Bruce and I went to Connecticut to visit with his sister Patti, her husband Dwain, and their kids, Kate and Tyler. Unfortunately we returned home to find that a dog had raided our chicken pen. We have not seen Sapa, Shiloh, or Henrietta since. All our other critters are doing great. We moved the baby goats into the barn with Luta and Hota, and they seem to be getting along quite well. UPDATES: Our Petting Zoo |
|
NOVEMBER 15, 2007 ~We've now expanded our miniature petting zoo by adding two Zebu Calves to our menagerie. We'll pick them up on Saturday. We also purchased two silky chickens. UPDATES: Our Petting Zoo |
|
NOVEMBER 11, 2007 ~We purchased three new dwarfs yesterday... Sioux Zanna, Pogo and Nanu. Pogo and Nanu are Pygmy goats, and Sioux Zanna is a Pygmy Dwarf cross. We brought Sioux Zanna home yesterday, and the other two females will be delivered tomorrow evening. We had several visitors today, so everyone in our petting zoo had lots of hugs and kisses. Check out the new photos. UPDATES: Nigerian Dwarf Does ; Our Petting Zoo |

NOVEMBER 03, 2007 ~ Bruce and I would like to thank everyone who helped to make our Halloween party a memorable one. The weather was beautiful and the Haunted Trail was a real hit. Due to popular demand, we shall be doing it again next year. I'll post some photos soon. ~ Check out the new additions to our farm. As many of you got to see, all of our little goats are a real treasure. We have now purchased two dwarf does, which we plan to breed in 2008. UPDATE: Nigerian Dwarf Goats |

OCTOBER 26, 2007 ~Due to the weather we've had a few inquiries as to whether or not we still plan to have the Halloween party. As one friend said, "Rain? When has that stopped you before?" I have received several e-mails and phone calls, and many still plan to attend. So, to answer your questions, "Yes, the show goes on." If it continues to rain into tomorrow afternoon, we shall move the party indoors to Kelly and Greg's. As for parking, the lane is extremely muddy and we have closed the gate, with the exception of moving equipment through. You can park behind our house by the trail to the little barn. Hope to see you all. And to those of you who prefer not to brave the weather, have a Happy Halloween. |

OCTOBER 18, 2007 ~We have all fallen in love with our new critters, and purchased another youngster named Dusty as a companion for Cloud. We had no idea that they would be so much fun, and such wonderful therapy - excellent way to relax. Cloud climbed into my arms and fell asleep today. We have cleared and fenced in a nice area behind the barn that we now call our petting zoo. We've even added a picnic table. So far we have four dwarf goats and three chickens. My brother Greg's kids are having a great time back there, not to mention the fun that we are having as well. ~I have added a few photos from our trip to Canada. I'll post some others soon. Take care. UPDATES: Nigerian Dwarf Goats : MyPhotoGallery |

OCTOBER 12, 2007 ~
Lots of things to tell you about. Fantastic vacation. I'll start
catching up shortly and post some photos. |
| JUNE 8, 2007 ~ Sorry that it's been so long since I've updated my web page. It's been a crazy year. Foaling season was short, and ended the first week of May, but we had a mare that was due on March 3rd, and went nine weeks over. Needless to say, someone had to be there to watch, so I ended up working seven days a week for the last two months of the season. The mare, Fairway Scene, foaled on May 14th and Mom and baby are both doing good. ~ In March I signed up for a Writer's class on line to learn how to write a query letter, synopsis etc. , so that I can begin to market my manuscript. I still have one more homework assignment due on Wednesday, which is the next 6,000 words of my novel. It's been a wonderful learning experience. And the goods is-that my teacher said that my book, so far, is excellent and that she has high hopes for it. ~ Bruce and I went to two Civil War re-enactments in the past two weeks. The first was New Market, and then Pennypacker. Had a great time at both. I'll post photos soon. ~ I'll catch up with my updates shortly. I made a major mistake back in January and had to download my entire webpage, and make several corrections in order to be able to publish again. Hopefully, it is back on track. ~ I had some serious set backs with my knee when I slipped on the ice only five weeks after my surgery. Not only did I injure the knee that I had had the surgery perform on, but the other one as well. Adding further injury, we had six foals born in five days, and the many trips up and down the steps at work, were a real killer. Doing a little better, now. But I still have some bad days. ~ I now have a fifteen year old girl, Kim, who comes to the barn to help me with the chores in exchange for riding Babydoll. So far, I am really pleased with her. If things work out, I believe she'll be a huge help, especially when I go away on vacation. ~Vacation... Bruce and I are going away for three weeks to Montana, and then northward into the Canadian Rockies about 400-500 miles north of the border to the land of the Caribou, Grizzly, Black Bear, Elk, Moose, Wolf, and Salmon. I am SO looking forward to it. ~ Anyway, everyone here is doing good. Hope you are all well. Catch up soon. Take care.
|
| JANUARY 5, 2007 ~The surgery on my knee went well, and after three weeks, I drove for the first time, Friday a week ago... However, I am still not ready to resume my chores at the barn, and without the help of Bruce, and my friend DL, my furry companions would not be happy at all. I am grateful for the mild weather though, as it does make the chores easier. Kelly and Greg have also been an incredible help where our meals are concerned. As many of you know, if it doesn't fit in the microwave, then Bruce is at a loss as to what to do with it. I did venture up to the barn yesterday evening with DL while she fed up, and passed out hay and said hello to everyone. ~I should be going back to work at Thornmar in the next week or so, and I think I'll be fine as long as I don't over due it. ~ Well, Take care, and I'll try to continue with my updates. OCTOBER 26, 2006 ~I have received several inquiries concerning the Halloween party on Saturday. See GYPSY HAVEN FUTURE EVENTS. Yes, the party is still on. Weather forecasts predict rain for Friday into Saturday afternoon, then clearing. Hope you all can still make it. Next year we are considering having a Harvest party instead, which would be held possibly in September when the weather is a bit warmer. Please give us your feedback on this. Thanks. See you Saturday. Costumes not mandatory, but even I'm getting dressed. So please, give it a try. HAPPY HALLOWEEN!!! |

OCTOBER 8, 2006 ~Went to the Delmarva Folk Festival over the weekend, and though the day started out with a light misting of rain and an occasional gust of wind in the morning, by afternoon the rain had passed and the remainder of the day turned out to be quite nice. The music was fantastic, starting with a drum workshop with the Native American Band, Spirit Wing who played at my 50th Birthday party, and again last year for Halloween. Nik Everett followed, and was excellent as well. All of the performers did a fantastic job. And of course I took lots of photos, so I'll be posting them soon. ~Sorry that I didn't get the chance to officially send out an email invite to the Halloween party yet I'll work on it this evening. I did post some new information on the web site, however. Hope to see you all there. UPDATE: GYPSY HAVEN FUTURE EVENTS ; BABY DOLL |

SEPTEMBER 17, 2006 ~I've taken on another huge project. Since last summer I have been collecting old photos of Bruce and I, and our families and friends. It seems such a waste for all of these photos to sit in boxes or photo albums, and rarely be viewed. I think it is time for them to be shared, so as a result, I have begun the long process of posting these photos and information to my web site... It has definitely brought back a lifetime of memories, especially the photos of Bruce and I. Though many of these may be boring to you, you may find a few that will spark a memory, or bring laughter to your heart. I have begun with my family, including my childhood, then my life with Bruce. I plan to post additional photos of friends, as well. Keep checking back for new pages. ~I have also recently begun research into my family tree. That too, is a big undertaking. Hope all is well. ~Last weekend, Bruce and I went to the Nanicoke PowWow with my brother Greg, his two daughters, Taylor and Niki, and our friend Kelly. What a beautiful day. I love to watch the dancing. Hopefully next time we can stay longer. ~Went to a Cooldog Concert late this afternoon and saw Old Blind Dogs. Their from Scotland... What a fantastic Show. Will post photos soon. Take care. ~Speaking of music... We have booked Tomato Can to perform at the Halloween Party. Hope you all can make it. See you then. SEPTEMBER 5, 2006 ~I just got back from visiting my parents in Florida. I got my Christmas present early, and spent a lot of time taking photos with my new camera. Surprisingly, I really enjoy taking pictures of insects. They seem to make great subjects. I am looking forward to getting some nice shots of the horses. Catch you all later. Hope all is well. AUGUST 16, 2006 ~It is with regret that I write, that Ginny "Shinning Wolf", Elder of the Whirling Rainbow Lodge, and mother of Lisa Severn one of our Medicine People of the Nation, passed away this last weekend. Services were held for her on Tuesday, presided over by Samuel "Caocoochee" Thomas. Though it is a relief that she is no longer suffering, Ginny was loved by all, and will be dearly missed. ~Bruce and I went to the Riverfront Blues Festival in Wilmington on Sunday. My brother Greg and our friends Bob and Heidi, and her two children went as well. It was a beautiful day. My favorite Band turned out to be a local trio by the name of TOMATO CAN. They were awesome. Bruce and I have booked them to perform here on October 28th. More details will follow soon. ~I have been busy working on my family tree. Photos, info, etc. I have also sent a sample of my brothers DNA to the laboratory at Genebase to trace our families ancestry on my fathers side. It will be interesting to see what turns up. ~Well, off to bed. Take care. ~This Saturday, August 19, I will heading down to Florida to visit with my parents. I will catch up with you all when I return on August 30th. There will be no webpage updates until then. NEW PAGE: 12th Va. Co. E. Picnic |

AUGUST 01, 2006 ~Had a great time at the Blues festival last weekend. This was one of the best blues festivals I've been to yet. They played a lot more of the rock and roll blues that I like. As usual, we enjoyed spending time with our old and dear friends, Brian and Lynn, and Alex. We also had the opportunity to visit another old and dear friend, Carl. ~This scorching heat wave has at least allowed me the time to catch up on my webpage, so I've added some new stuff. Will get to the photos of the Kalmar Nyckel next. Take care. NEW PAGE: Green Corn 2006 ; The Magical Horse |

JULY 27, 2006 ~Kelly and I celebrated the Green Corn Ceremony with the lodge last weekend. What an incredible time. I believe it was the best one yet. ~Rained here heavily last weekend while we were away. The road behind our house washed out so badly that there was an 18 inch gully in the middle of the road. Gregg Neck was completely flooded and the parking lot of the 301 Restaurant was flooded to the curb. Fortunately, Kelly and I had beautiful weather at Hawk's Nest. It rained for 20 minutes while we were having dinner, then the rest of the evening was quite pleasant, and I enjoyed drumming with Richard, Jim, Tom, Jabbar, and Kelly, while the kids danced about the fire twirling glow sticks. ~This weekend we're off to the Pocono Blues Festival. ~Gerry Morris came over again yesterday and took more photos of the horses for her artwork. She is doing some beautiful stuff. I especially love the one of Shadow with the braids and feathers. Can't wait to see what she does next. ~I'll try to get the photos of the Kalmar Nyckel, and Green Corn posted soon. Take Care. NEW PAGE: Windy's Pups |

JULY 16, 2006 ~ Been busy as usual. Bruce and I went to another Civil War Re-Enactment a few weeks ago in Old Bedford, Pa. The setting is absolutely beautiful. Had a great time. ~Last weekend my friend DL's Labradoodle delivered 10 puppies, which I assisted. And three days later my friend Danielle's goat delivered triplet miniature goats. Baby photos will follow soon. I was also present when Miko, my friend's rescued raccoon, was returned to the wild two weeks ago. Critters. Critters. And more critter updates coming soon. ~Bruce and I celebrated our Birthday's yesterday with a sail on the Kalmar Nyckel. It was an awesome sail at about 5-6 knots. Since this particular sail was a Pirate sail, we ended the afternoon at the movies with Pirates of The Caribbean. A fun movie. Of course I have been a long time Johnny Depp fan( since 21 Jump Street), and have seen nearly every movie including The Brave (which has never been released yet, in the U.S.A.) And even the short lived "Libertine" which was pulled from the theatres this past winter after only one week at the box office. By the way, his portrayal of the Marque De Sade was excellent. Anyway, Pirates II comes highly recommended. ~I have been trying to update my web page, so there will be a lot of small changes in graphics, background etc., which I will not mention since there are so many. I will keep you updated on any new pages however. So enjoy. ~Hope all is well with everyone. Hopefully I'll be loading lots of new photos this week. Take care. NEW PAGE: Old Bedford; Cody and Miko |

JUNE 27, 2006 ~Well, despite the forecast, the Benefit turned out to be a success, and everyone appeared to have a great time. I have posted some photos and will post more as soon as I get them. We would like to extend our gratitude to the musicians, to Fordham, and to all of those who helped make this event possible. We would also like to thank all of you for your support. Thanks so much. JUNE 13, 2006 ~Went to the Re-enactment at Pennypacker Mills last weekend. It was a really nice event. Though it rained on Friday evening and we had an occasional drizzle the early part of Saturday morning, the weather turned out to be beautiful. We plan to go to Old Bedford this coming weekend. ~Still working on the fence, needless to say, but I'm getting there. I did manage to replace the tape in the front field, and I also trimmed the fence line with the weedwacker, while Bruce mowed the fields with the tractor. Bruce is on vacation fro the next two weeks... until the benefit... if I don't go insane between now and then, hopefully I'll see you all there. LOL!! Take care. JUNE 7, 2006 ~Sorry that I haven't updated my web page in over a month, but as usual things have been going nonstop here. I finished with the foaling season at Thornmar last week. And unfortunately, it ended tragically when one of the three month old foals broke his neck and died in a freak accident when he managed to get his neck caught between the gate and the post while waiting for the morning feeding with his mom and one of his buddies. He was a real sweetheart, and is missed. Thornmar also lost another foal and a mare this season. Fortunately everyone else is doing good. ~Everything here at home is going well. We've been busy getting ready for the benefit, in addition to all of the spring chores... mowing, gardening, weed-wacking etc. Yesterday, I spent 5 hours cutting back briars and wild roses in the lower field, so that I can run new wire. Bruce gathered it up, and burned 3 truckloads when I had finished. And that was just yesterday. I still have more work to do tomorrow. I had so many cuts and scratches on my hands and arms from the thorns, that I decided to take a break from it today. I mowed the paddocks instead. Needless to say, I am hurting. I think I have used nearly every muscle in my body the past two days, but I am happy that I'm making progress. ~Two weeks ago we went to the Civil War Re-enactment at New Market. It was the first time that I had the opportunity to go to that one, because I am usually still busy with foaling season. It was really nice. I hope to get there again. I have posted photos. This past weekend we went to one at Pennypacker Mills, in Pa. That is a small one, but always a favorite. It is only about 15 minutes from where Bruce and I grew up. His parents came to see us, and so did our friend Carl. I haven't finished posting those photos yet, but I'll try to get to them soon. ~Now that I have finished at Thornmar, I have decided to dedicate between 15 and 20 hours a week to writing. I always put aside my work until the following January, and that's why it takes so long to get anything finished. It is also hard to get back into it after its been sitting for six months. I have been keeping a log of my hours, and have been doing great. I have been averaging 25 hours a week. This week will be tough though, and with the benefit coming up, I may have to forfeit some hours until after the 24th. ~Hope all is well with everyone. And hope you can make it to the benefit. Take care. NEW PAGE: New Market; UPDATE: Gypsy Haven Future Events |

MAY 1, 2006 ~Bruce and I celebrated our 31st Wedding Anniversary this week, so we went to Maynard's Piano Bar and Restaurant in Middletown. The food was expensive, but excellent. Our friend Bill Belcher had called us and told us that he was going to be playing guitar there, so we got to see him perform, as well as his friend Craig, who we hadn't seen in years. There was a Civil War Re-enactment at Neshamminy this past weekend, but I was on call for work, so I didn't want to be too far from home. Anyway, we had a great night out. ~Our mare Vera returned to Gypsy Haven a week ago, after being leased to Cheryl Conway for the past few years. I hadn't realized how much I missed her. It is so nice to have her home. I tacked her up the other day and road her around the small field... She was hot to trot. I'll post some new photos shortly. ~April, as March, turned out to be a busy month for Bruce and I. There was fencing, gardening, preparations for the benefit, concerts, visits to the doctors with my grandmother, and numerous other chores... and now here we are venturing into the month of May, which I believe will be no less as busy. I am still working the night shift at Thornmar, with 6 more mares still to foal. With regret, we lost one foal, and a young mare, Semoan Queen. ~Though everything seemed so overwhelming this year, especially the gardens, I am surprised at how much we managed to accomplish in the past month. I weeded and extended the garden by the road; cleaned out the sanctuary and planted some new perennials; worked on the fencing and tore down a lot of the old white tape, replacing it with new insulators and wire; worked with Sage, and have her leading well and walking over the cavalleties; cleaned the tack room, the feed room, the cabinets in the stairwell, and scrubbed Arlie's igloo and stripped his stall, all that in addition to working seven days a week at the farm. Of course, I had some much appreciated help from my friend MaryLou. Now there is fencing to replace in the lower field, work in the garden by the barn, and lots and lots of weedwacking to do all along the fences. Hopefully I will get to that this week. ~ For those of you who have trouble falling asleep, I have discovered a wonderful herbal tea called TEEPEE DREAMS. It is made by a Native American tea company. The ingredients are Peppermint, Chamomile, Catnip, Valerian Root, Passion Flower, Strawberry Leaf, and Scullcap. I found that if I make a cup of tea, steep it for 3 to 5 minutes, then go to bed right after I drink it, I usually fall asleep within 10 minutes. It's wonderful on those days when I've got so going on that I can't quiet my mind enough to fall asleep. You can purchase it on-line at http://www.NativeAmericanTea.com/ . ~Well, I hope all is well with everyone. Take care. UPDATE: Concerts and Shows |

APRIL 16, 2006 ~Bruce and I are proud to introduce Alex Humphries. He is a talented young man and has just recorded his first song. Way to go Alex!!! He will be performing at the benefit that we will be hosting for the Delaware Friends of Folk. I am a Board Member for the DFF and have been busy working with them in putting the Benefit together. So far we have a great line up, and you can read about it below in the link to our "Future Events". We'd love to have you join us. More information will be provided shortly. ~It finally rained a few nights ago, and what a blessing!!! The wind however, howled like a banchee all night, and hail fell early this morning. I had to close all of the big doors down at the farm, and at one point it sounded much as hurricane Isabel did when she whipped through here nearly three years ago... But I had to keep reminding myself that last night was nothing like the 120 mph sustained winds that I endured in 2004 when Hurricane Jeanne swept through Sebastian, FL. Again, I am so grateful for the RAIN. ~We went to see Tempest Perform two weekends ago at Cooldog. The weather was wonderful and they were able to hold the concert outside. What a fantastic show. I will follow with photos real soon. Wishing you all...our best. ~HOPE YOU ALL HAVE A NICE HOLIDAY!!!! NEW: Alex Humphries UPDATE: Gypsy Haven Future Events ; Index |

MARCH 27, 2006 ~It is with a HEAVY HEART that I write this... Last Tuesday the DOL rounded up 7 Buffalo from the Duck Creek area near West Yellowstone, where I had spent the majority of my time on Rove patrol with the BFC. While at Duck Creek I had grown fond of a big old Bull Buffalo that I nicknamed "Willow". He was among a small group of Bulls that often hung out at Koelzer's and along Highway 287. "Willow," I have come to believe that he was among the 7 who have recently been sent to slaughter... Let us honor the Buffalo Nation and our fallen Brothers... Aho. UPDATE: Buffalo Bulletin Board. |

FEBRUARY 23, 2006 UPDATE: Buffalo Bulletin Board. New Video added. |

FEBRUARY 18, 2006 ~Enjoying my time off from work. I did manage to get caught up on a few things around the house, barn and my website, in addition to getting caught up on my sleep. I fell asleep around 9:00 on Friday evening, and didn't wake up until nearly 10:00 a.m. Saturday morning. It was wonderful. ~I received an e-mail from Stephany, who was the one who initially got me interested in going to Montana in support of the Buffalo. I had met her at the Delaware Folk Festival in October. After reading my e-mails from West Yellowstone, she recently quit her job and moved to Montana this past week. I will miss her back here, but I will be there with her is spirit. ~There is a really informative and interesting video that A&E Investigative Reports did in 1999. It is called "War On The Range." It is available through Amazon, and I recently picked up a copy through E-bay. It is all about what has been going on with the Buffalo. It covers all sides of the issue, and though it was made in 1999, it still holds true for what is going on today. There are a few changes however... 1. The video states that there are 2,500 Buffalo and 12,000 Elk. At the moment there are 4,200 Buffalo and 120,000; 2. They say that the Buffalo are not vaccinated nor are they monitored through the use of head collars. This is no longer true. The Buffalo are vaccinated, and head collars and vaginal implants are also used on the Buffalo; 3. The CUT church now grazes cattle on the lands that border those that were set aside as an easement for wildlife, and they do not want the Buffalo grazing near their cattle. Anyway, it is an excellent video and I highly recommend it. UPDATES: 12th VA. FEBRUARY 16, 2006 ~The National Park Service has slaughtered 171 more Buffalo since Monday. The Governor of Montana is hearing our voices, but the Park Service appears to be hearing the voices of the DOL and the CUT church. This is going to be a long haul... ~Another mare foaled last night so I will go into work this evening to watch her and the baby, and as long as no one else makes any changes, I should be off through the weekend. I'll try to get caught up on my web page if I get the chance. I have a lot to add... Upcoming 12th Va. updates; the picks for the Delmarva Folk Festival; the upcoming Benefit here at Gypsy Haven for the Delmarva Folk Society etc. ~Off to bed. I'll catch up soon. Take care. |

FEBRUARY 10, 2006 ~The Buffalo Nations are coming. Native Americans gather to pray for the Buffalo... Governor of Montana is hearing your voices. He ordered the release of Buffalo in the Duck Creek Facility. Thanks SOO much for all of your support, e-mails, phone calls etc. Please read the bottom of the Update and give yourself a big pat on the back. LATEST UPDATE FROM BFC ~Been real busy at the farm. Had three foals born the other night... McMoment, Earn Interest and an outside mare whose due date we were told was March 5th. Surprise. That was her breeding date. All mama's and babies are doing great. That makes six since last Thursday, and I am watching two more. |

FEBRUARY 6, 2006 ~Sad news... one of Maryland's top leading sires, Horatius, at the age of 31, died of natural causes while peacefully napping in the sunshine on Friday morning. Horatius had a successful racing career, earning over $380,000 before he was retired from racing. As a sire he produced many stakes winners including SAFELY KEPT, who won the Maryland Million in three consecutive years. Another prominent stakes winner is STEPPEDOUTOFADREAM, the full sister to Montana Cottonwood, who was bred by me, and later sold at Timonium. I remember when I first went to Thornmar in 1991 to inquire about a job. Before Ricky Price, the manager of Thornmar for over 20 years, even ask me my name or my qualifications, took me into the stud barn to meet Horatius. He talked at length about Horatius's career as a sire and of his admiration for him. I was impressed, to say the least, but I was even more surprised by the kind eyes and the gentle disposition of this stallion. I was hired three months later to manage the back barn and to handle the mares for breeding, and I soon learned how much of gentleman Horatius was in the breeding shed. He will be missed dearly by all, but no one will miss him as Ricky will. Ricky and Horatius were long time friends, that had been evident from our first meeting. It was an honor to have known this wonderful gentle spirit. I will post more information on him soon. ~Went to Cooldog on Saturday evening and saw Amy White and Al Pettaway. What an incredible show. Stephen DiJoseph opened for them and accompanied them at the piano for the encore. All three performers are nominees for the Delmarva Folk Festival. I am still having a difficult time in placing my ballot. There are too many good performers to choose from. I will have to make my decision by Friday. ~Been busy at Thornmar. Avies Covergirl foaled at 6:30 a.m on Friday, and Holly Jolly at 6:05 this morning. Waiting on McMoment now. All mom's and babies are doing great. ~Hope all is well. Take care. JANUARY 19, 2006 ~Park Service has captured over 500 Buffalo in the last week and has slaughter over 124 of them. Their plan is to slaughter all those remaining in the Stephens Creek Capture Facility except for a small number of calves. Nearly 500 will be slaughtered. I needn't tell you again of my grief on this subject, I'm sure by now that you all know. But several of our Congressmen have yet to hear from me. Please forward the BFC information to anyone on your mailing list that may be interested in helping, either through prayer, contributions, as a volunteer, or in contacting their local press. Thanks again. Met with Stephany for lunch and contacted the Kent County News. They may be interested in doing a story. They'll get back to me in a few days. NEW UPDATES: McGady's Moonshadoow |

JANUARY 17, 2006 ~Been busy the last few days trying to straighten up some of my old web pages, and adding some new additions. ~I realize now that the Buffalo had found his way to my heart in more ways than I had imaged. I am always going to be a Buffalo advocate, and in doing so, I feel that the best way that I can help the Buffalo at the moment, is to educate the public as to what is going on. I realized this even more so yesterday when I went to Forum at the Lodge. The topic that Sam addressed this week was Power. We all have the power within us to achieve whatever it is that we desire as long as we follow are heart and are true to ourselves. Cindy inspired me as well. I had been feeling down about the Buffalo situation, feeling helpless and wanting to be back there with the BFC. Cindy must have read my heart and knew the conflict and the heartache that I was experiencing. She gave me a hug and told me that she felt that I could do just as much good here at home by letting people know what is going on. She didn't have a clue she said, and neither did any of the other members of the Lodge. Now they are keeping the Buffalo in their prayers. Helen, another dear friend, was a great inspiration today when she encouraged me to contact newspapers and radio stations... Many of you have offered your wonderful support, and again I can not thank you enough. Perhaps one day we two-leggeds will all learn to respect all of our relatives, and walk this earth in harmony and balance within the Circle of Life, as it was meant to be. PIla ma ya ye. Aho. JANUARY 15, 2006 ~I just spoke with Stephany who initially helped to set me on the path of the BFC. I'm meeting with her for lunch on Wednesday and we're going to see if we can spark some interest with some of our local Newspapers. I have also added a Buffalo Bulletin Board to my Webpage, so please submit your comments, opinions and questions concerning the Yellowstone Buffalo. Thanks ~I just spoke with Josh from the BFC. He said that it has continuously snowed out there since I left, and there is now 3 feet of snow on the ground. And with all that is going on, they don't have enough volunteers to do half days, so they are running all day shifts... I still miss being out on patrol, but I am hoping that I can work from this end of things to get the word out to the public. ~Have been off from work at Thornmar since Wednesday. No one else was ready to foal yet, so I worked a little on the fencing. It seems that the deer have been frequenting our pastures and have knocked down the electric fence in a few places. In the spring we will need to replace several of the rails on the post and rail section. Of course, fencing is always a never ending project, no matter what type of fence you put up. ~Went to see the movie TRISTAN and ISOLDE. Bruce and Kelly saw it with me. It is a little reminiscent of the Legend of King Arthur, but and all three of us still give it a thumbs up.NEW PAGE: Buffalo Bulletin Board. |

JANUARY 11, 2006 ~I just finished reading the latest updates from the THE BUFFALO FIELD CAMPAIGN,, and I write this with a heavy heart, and with tears in my eyes. What we had feared, the senseless hazing and slaughter of the Buffalo has begun, and it is not just at the hand of the DOL (Department of Livestock) but the National Park Service, as well. You can read about the hazing on the BFC webpage. ~I have posted my journal, along with my photos of my journey with the Buffalo and the BFC. Thank you again for all of your support with my trip to Montana and for supporting the Buffalo and the BFC. Only through your prayers, your support, and your e-mails to your congressmen, can we hope to save the Yellowstone Buffalo. ~I have started back to work at Thornmar, and their first foal was born on Monday evening. It was an easy delivery, and mom and baby are doing good. ~Hope everyone had a nice holiday, and a I would like to wish you all the best for the New Year. NEW PAGE: In the Field with the BFC |

NOVEMBER 1, 2005 ~A special thanks to all of you who came to the Halloween party, and helped to make it a fun time. I have posted some of the photos, and will try to get to the rest of them over the weekend. You can find them on my home page under Concerts and Shows, listed in the section with the Livestock Festival. Take care. Hope everyone is well. NEW PAGE: HALLOWEEN 2005 |

OCTOBER 24, 2005 ~Bruce and I went to the Re-enactment in Cedar Creek on the 15th and 16th. The leaves were beginning to change color in the mountains, and the weather was gorgeous. Had a great time. I have posted some of the photos, but I still have more to come. ~Went to see Pony on the 17th, and my friend Karen McGady and I went to see the Native American Museum at the Smithsonian. It is an incredible museum. I recommend that you go if you're ever in Washington. Pony looks great and I got some wonderful photos. I'll post them soon. ~I purchased my ticket to go out to Montana to help with the Buffalo Field Campaign. I will be leaving on November 29th and returning on December 20th. I am really looking forward to it. I'll take lots of photos and keep everyone posted as to what's going on. ~Don't forget to come down on the 29th to hear SPIRIT WING and Bob Hamel perform. My parents came up to see the concert, and I've been busy all week running with my Mom, getting things prepared. Hope to see you all. Take care. ~Hope all is well. NEW PAGE: Cedar Creek 2005 |
| OCTOBER 11, 2005 ~ So many things happening in the past few months that I have gotten behind in my updates. I'll try to catch you up on a few things. ~ The Delmarva Folk Festival was fun and the weather was beautiful. Though I didn't get to see too many of the performances, since I was a vendor, I was able to enjoy the music. I did catch Full Frontal, and they were fantastic. See photos of the Festival at Concerts and Shows. ~ Cottonwood's yearling "Ghost Chaser" sold for $28,000, which was a fairly good price for her first baby. The big sale at Timonium this year however, was "Master Stroke" By TOUCH GOLD, out of GEORGIA K. This colt sold for an incredible $290,000. I believe it was the top selling horse out of nearly 900 that passed through the auction. Master Stroke was owned and bred by Thornmar Farm, and it was so exciting to see one of the babies that I helped to bring into the world, do so well at the sale. It would be wonderful if he does as well at the race track. Congratulations Cynthia, Charlie and Ricky. ~As many of you know, I am going to Montana in December for three weeks as a volunteer for the Buffalo Field Campaign (BFC). I have always had a strong passion for the preservation of the Buffalo, and at last, I feel that this is something that I can do to help. I purchased my airline ticket this weekend, and I'll be flying into Bozeman on November 29th and returning on December 20th. I started shopping for some decent winter gear and found an L.L. Bean Outlet in Perryville where I got some great bargains, boots, gloves, fleece shirts and wool socks. That was a good start. I'm still looking for someone to come along. If any of you are interested, please let me know as soon as possible. Thanks. ~ A newspaper Article about the Lodge recently appeared in the Aegis. I cut it out, and posted it on my page. I thought that it was interesting, and that the writer did a good job on the article, so I thought I'd share it. Take care.

| SEPTEMBER 29, 2005 ~I've been busy all week making jewelry. DL and I have a vendors booth at the Delmarva Folk Festival this weekend. It's a great little Festival. Bruce and I are planning a concert next spring to benefit the Delmarva Folk Society. I'll post information on this event in the next few weeks. ~ The yearlings leave for the sale today, so I put in my last day at Thornmar until January when the foaling season begins. I plan to go to the sale on Tuesday to see Cottonwood's first baby ( Ghost Chaser) go to auction. Hopefully he will bring a good price. UPDATES: Dancing the Dream Designs ~ Necklaces |

Vassey was a gentle, loving companion, and shall be missed by all. ~Bruce and I went to our friend Eric's 40th Birthday Party yesterday. It was a great time... lots of fun, laughs, excellent food, and a live performance by Nik Everett. Again, happy Birthday Eric. I will post photos soon. NEW PAGE: Concert,Shows and Links |

| SEPTEMBER 6, 2005 ~Hope everyone had a nice Holiday. Our friends Mark, Donna, and Davey came down for the weekend. The weather was beautiful, and they got to do a little fishing and horseback riding. On Saturday, Bruce and I went to Tamara's wedding. Tamara is the daughter of (Sam) Caocoochee, the Seminol Medicine Man and Shaman that Kelly and I have been studying with. Sam performed the ceremony, and it was the first Native American wedding that we've ever had the opportunity to attend. It was a quiet beautiful and simple. ~I am taking my Grandmother to New Jersey today to stay with her daughter for a few days, and I will be visiting with my cousin Christine overnight, and returning tomorrow. Hopefully I will be able to continue to post my my previous updates and photos when I return. Take care. NEW PAGE: Tamara's wedding. |

AUGUST 28th ~Sorry that it's been so long since I've updated my page, but August has been one extremely busy month. Since I last updated my page, we acquired a house cat named Mollie, went to see two shows at Cooldog, I took my nieces to Florida, bought a new computer and went to a Civil War Re-enactment. I will soon follow with photos and details. ~A message for Lynne: I received your e-mail on Thursday but when I tried to reply, my message to you came back undelivered. I'll try again. ~Hope all is well with everyone. NEW PAGE: Summer of '62 |

AUGUST 2, 2005 ~Bruce and I, along with our friend Bob Hamel, went to see Nik Everett perform on Friday evening on our way to the Poconos Blues Festival. What a fantastic show. Whether playing with the Nik Everett Group, or performing solo, this is one man who never fails to impress me with his talent. And as a real treat, he played several Neil Young songs for me. We plan to have Nik return here to Gypsy Haven sometime in the spring. Check out Gypsy Haven Future Events through the link to the Livestock Music Festival and we'll keep you informed of all of our upcoming concerts. ~Had fun time at the Blues festival, though my favorite part of the weekend has always been in visiting with our long time friends Brian and Lynn. It was a real treat to hear their 12 year old son Alex, performing songs by Green Day. That boy is quite talented. Before he makes it big, we're hoping to have him perform here at Gypsy Haven. ~I also had a wonderful visit with Vassey (Lakota's sister). Though she often has difficulty in managing the stairs, she's doing just fine for an old gal of 13. ~Well, I managed to stay up way past my bedtime again. Hope you are sleeping well DL. ~Hope everyone and their families are well. Take care. Thanks again to those of you who have sent in your photos. JULY 28, 2005 ~I would like to thank all of you who have sent in photos of the Music Festival. I still have have at least 200 more photos to post, but I will be happy to add yours as well, so please send any photos that you would like to contribute. ~Bruce and I plan to see Nik Everett perform this evening in Phoenixville. It should be a great show. Then Saturday morning we're heading up to the Poconos to join our friends Brian, Lynn and Alex for the Blues Festival, so check back after the weekend for more photos. Take care. NEW UPDATE: Livestock Music Festival NEW PAGE: Gypsy Haven Future Events |

JUNE 22, 2005 ~Our little Sage had her first illness. Text and photos on Sage's Portfolio. She's doing great now, and weather permitting, I will turn her and mom into the small paddock for a short time tomorrow. ~Went to hear NIK EVERETT perform at Cooldog House Concert two weekends ago, along with Cliff Eberhardt. What a fantastic show. I am really looking forward to Nik performing at our party in July. ~I planted a nice little perennial garden at Lakota's gravesite, and just finished it up yesterday. She is buried in a little alcove in Crazy Horse Sanctuary. Beside her grave is a little bench, and preserved in concrete to the left of the entrance to the lodge, is her footprint. Her sister Vasey's print is on the right. She is dearly missed by all. ~We bred Mellie two weeks ago, so hopefully she is in foal. We'll have her vetted next week. We also have a Quarter Horse mare on the property, "Twig", who belongs to my friend Danielle. We bred her this afternoon. And Abby should be ready to breed soon, as well... Shadow is one happy boy. Take Care. Hope all is well. UPDATES: New photos of Arlie Pig ; Poochie; Baby Doll and Sage. |

JUNE 11, 2005 ~ Bruce and I are sorry to announce that on June 9th, after suffering two strokes, the first on June 3rd, and the second on the 8th, we had no other options but to have Lakota euthanized. ~After her first stroke, we stayed home from the Re-enactment at Pennypacker and spent the weekend with Lakota. The weather was beautiful, so Bruce lifted her into the back of the pick-up truck and drove her up to the old barn. She seemed to enjoy basking in the sun and spending some last quiet moments with us. ~I had called Brian and Lynn with the hope of taking Lakota to Pennsylvania to visit with her sister Vassey, but when she suffered the second stroke, Bruce and I decided that we could wait no longer. She will surely be missed. ~Bruce and I would like to thank DL, Tavis, my Mom, my brother Greg and his family, and Brian and Lynn, for all of their help, and for their words of comfort through this trying time. Thank you so much. ~My web page is still in the process of being upgraded, so please be patient if some of the photos don't open yet. It should be up and running in full real soon. Thanks for your patience. UPDATE: Lakota |
| JUNE 3, 2005 ~Sorry that I haven't been able to publish the last update of my site, but I had a little problem with Frontpage. Everything seems to be up and running again, so please check out the update for May 19th to catch up on everything. There are some new updates listed. ~ Well, as of Wednesday evening, we are now finished with the foaling season for 2005, with quite an exciting evening last Saturday when Blushing Moon foaled at 10:30 p.m, and Muffie foaled at 11:55p.m., and on her due date. We ended up spending the entire evening running back and forth from one stall to the other, getting them nursing etc. After three days of watching Mom's and Babies, I caught up on my rest, somewhat, and then began tackling some of the chores that managed to get neglected. ~That same Saturday afternoon, Bruce and I met our friends Bob Hamel and Eric Ayers at Cooldog House concerts where they were having a benefit concert to raise money for the Delaware Folk Society. It was a gorgeous day, and the fund-raiser went well. We got to see Celtic Harvest perform, as well as Full Frontal Folk, and Sand Creek. It was a good show. ~Bruce and I plan to leave this evening to go to a Civil War Re-enactment at Pennypacker Creek, so I'm going to sign off now and get packing. Take care. Don't forget to read the update for May 19th. NEW UPDATE: Gypsy Sage |
| MAY 19, 2005 ~ Things have been quiet at Thornmar so I finally managed to catch up on my sleep, somewhat. Bruce is on vacation this week, so we have been busy working on the fencing. Still trying to finish the big field for Sage, and it's nearly finished... She is doing great, and growing fast. She is definitely very precocious, and just loves spending as much time as possible with people. I started putting a halter on her at three days old, and picking up her feet daily. She is so willing to please. And, if you can believe it, she is already potti~trained. Since this is the first foal that we have had at Gypsy Haven in three years, everyone has been taking photos of Sage, so we will probably have more photos of Sage than all of our other horses combined. And some of them are really good, so I have added a special page to Sage's web, just for photos. ~Coyote Moon now has a new nickname ~ FREIGHT TRAIN... The day that Sage was born, DL was working Coyote Moon, and he broke free and ran into the field where we were working on our new fence. I wasn't too worried at first, but then I saw him heading for the new fencing and realized that he didn't see it. He slammed his brakes on at the last minute, but needless to say, he slammed into it, broke two posts off at the bottom, flipped completely over it, and land on his neck. We watched horrified, but fortunately, he managed to get by with only a few superficial scratches. He is one lucky boy. John and Marcia Kelley, and DL helped with the repairs and the cost of the fencing. But the best news of all was that Coyote picked himself off the ground and trotted off, sustaining only minor injuries. ~Bruce went to New Market last weekend for a Re-enactmentment with the 12th Va. This was his first time doing this event and he really enjoyed it. He took the scenic route home, too. He said that it was beautiful driving thru the mountains. Hopefully, I'll get to this event some day, but it always falls during the busy breeding and foaling season. I do look forward to Pennypacker Mills in June. ~Hope all is well. Thanks for all the e-mails. Take care. UPDATES: New photos of Mitakola Gypsy Sage; Abby; Coyote Moon; Tokalah; and BabyDoll. |

MAY 6, 2005 ~Today is Mellie's due date. She made some major changes last week, and since things have been quiet at Thornmar, I decided to foal her at home... so I've been sleeping out at the barn for the past week... BRRR. I threw an old mattress in the back of my Ford Explorer, parked it in the aisle way outside of her stall, and set the alarm for every half and hour, to check her. Needless to say, that soon begins to take it's toll. To make things worse, Mellie began to shut down when the cold front moved in, but knowing how quickly things can change, I was reluctant to leave her unattended. I was fortunate however, to have the help of several of my friends, who were generous enough to put in a few hours here and there to help me keep watch. ~I began to get a little concerned this past Thursday when I noticed some blood on Mellie's tail wrap. I called Dr. Mende, and she happen to be in the area, so she came out to examine her. Fortunately, the bleeding doesn't appear to be anything to be concerned about. And the good news is that the foal is in the Birth Canal, and Dr. Mende said that it appears to be in the proper position. The Cervix however, had not begun to dilate. Dr. Mende did a milk test, and estimated that it would be at least another three days.... The first thing that I did was to go home, take a nice hot shower and wash my hair. I then fell into bed for a long deep sleep. It was wonderful!!!! ~Anyway, I will keep you all posted. Maybe we will have a Mother's Day baby. Take care. AHO. UPDATE: Shadow Dancer |

~Great News!!! Our friend Dan,
scraped the lane with his tractor. Thanks, Dan… It’s SO nice. |
| APRIL 13, 2005 ~We managed to get a little bit of a break this week with the foaling, so I took advantage of the quiet time to catch up on my sleep and to work on my web page. ~Bruce and I have also been busy putting up new fencing for Mellie's foal, who is due around the first week of May. I will be shipping her to Thornmar to foal there, since I will be watching their mares anyway. ~I've also begun to play my guitar again. It's been a few years, but it's amazing at how it is all coming back. Having fun with it, though I will have to learn some new songs...my voice has changed drastically. ~Hope all is well. MARCH 23, 2005 ~HAPPY BIRTHDAY LAKOTA and VASSEY!! ~Well, the girls made it to their 13th Birthday. Quite an accomplishment for a big dog. We're planning a feast of all of Lakota's favorite foods, including a vanilla birthday cake. Photos will follow later. UPDATE: Abby, photos of her sire. NEW: Telly |
| MARCH 19, 2005 ~Bruce and I worked on the fencing again today. Making some progress, but we still have a long way to go. We were going to go to the coffee house in Dover to listen to a Celtic Band, but we were both too tired, and decided on a quiet evening at home. ~We had three mares foal the last three days. All are doing well. I have this evening off and as soon as I update my site, I'm looking forward to a good long sleep. Good night, all. UPDATE: Raven |

MARCH 16, 2005 ~Been trying to get my web page caught up. Not much time to work on it, but it sure helps me to maintain some sense of sanity this time of year, when there's been so much going on. ~DL and I took Abby and Raven out trail riding yesterday. It was great. Abby did real well, and we had a wonderful time. She has settled in nicely. This was the first time that we got to take he two girls out together. ~I met Bruce and Bob at Andy's on Saturday night and caught the last set of Naked Blue. They're a pretty good band. It was a nice evening after working on the fencing all day and then doing the early shift at Thornmar. I had the rest of the evening off and got a good night sleep, which is always a welcomed treasure this time of year. Hope all is well. Take care. UPDATE: Pony |

HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!! To two of my favorite people... TAVIS and DANA. |

MARCH 09, 2005 ~Had a busy night at Thornmar, last night. Despite the frigid temperatures and the howling wind, Muffies Muffin and Donebroke both foaled. Mom's and babies are doing great. So far everything looks quiet for this evening. ~Nothing new. I've been busy working at Thornmar and Dr. Mendes, which at the moment, leaves little time for anything else. I did enjoy my evening off the other night and manage to update a few things on my web page. I just developed 8 rolls of film, some current and some that had been lying around since summer, so you'll be seeing a lot more updates. ~The weekend was beautiful. During the day, Bruce and I ripped out some old fencing. Hopefully we'll get to finish the clean up on Saturday.. ~Good news ~ Lakota is still doing fairly well, and if she continues to do so, we will be celebrating her 13th Birthday. Quite an old gal for a big dog. Hope all is well with all of you. UPDATES: Mellie ; Rosie ; Babydoll |

~I am thrilled to announce that Abby
arrived on February 26, and that she is every bit as wonderful as I had
imagined. I took her a for a short ride around the property last Sunday,
and was amazed by how comfortable she is to ride… It’s like
comparing the smooth ride of a new Vehicle to an old battered truck with
no shocks… NEW: Abby ~ New web page with text and photos. |
| FEBRUARY 18, 2005 ~Everything has been quiet at Thornmar this week, so I've just been going in for a few hours each morning to do the 3:30 feeding, which given me a little time to update my web page. ~Karen McGady was by last Sunday and had a little visit with the horses. She too, was surprised by the size of Coyote Moon. She also sent me some recent photos of Pony... So here they are... Isn't she gorgeous? UPDATES: Mc Gady's Moon Shadow ; Piggie Payne |
| FEBRUARY 13, 2005 ~Already the New Year has brought its share of joy, laughter and sorrow... With great regret Bruce and I recently learned that Whistler, a dear friend of ours from England, passed away just before the holidays. We had known him since 1992. He will be dearly missed. ~On a good note however, my Grandmother celebrated her 90th Birthday at the end of January. My parents drove up from Florida and gave her a surprise party. She was indeed surprised, and it was wonderful to have the family together. ~In the beginning of February I started back to work at Thornmar, and we had quite a babyboom these past few weeks. Things have quieted down for a few days now and I managed to have a short break. Only from the foaling however... Since the weather was so lovely over the weekend, I took the opportunity to catch up on some chores and repairs at the barn. ~Abby, my new Morgan Broodmare, is due to arrive next weekend. I will post some photos soon. You can see her on Lord Calvert's web page. There are three photos of her. She is the older horse with the chain lead. I am so excited. We plan to breed her this spring to our stallion Shadow. UPDATES: 12th Va. Co E |

JANUARY 2, 2005 ~Hope you all had a wonderful Holiday. Bruce and I welcomed the New Year with our friends Kelly, Bob, Kathy and Harry, and all of our friends who frequent the Cool Dog House Concerts. Our entertainment for the evening was a fine performance brought to us by our good friends Andy and Denise. ~Now that the Holidays are over, I am beginning to prepare for the foaling season at Thornmar. Our own mare Dream Acres Melody (Mellie) is also due to foal the first week of May, so I will probably ship her there to foal with the other broodmares. It will make things a lot easier since she has been unpredictable with every delivery. ~We are purchasing a new Morgan Broodmare from Dana and Gary Thomas of Dream Acres Morgans. Her name is Abby, and her breeding is PVLTD Lord Calvert By I Will Command. She will be delivered to us sometime in April, and I am anxiously awaiting her arrival. I hope to visit her soon and take some photos. I will begin a web page for her real soon. ~Wishing you all a new year filled with health, happiness and peace. UPDATES: Piggy and Coyote Moon |

AUGUST 24, 2004 ~I can't believe how quickly the summer is passing by. And I have not updated my web~page in over a month!!! It seems that I've been on the go ~ nonstop. ~Bruce's mom, Marge has recently been diagnosed with cancer and has undergone surgery. It appears to have been successful and she is doing wonderful. According to her tests results, it does not appear to have spread to the lymph glands. We are so grateful. ~ The end of July I spent four days at Green Corn Ceremony with the Lodge. What a wonderful and enriching experience... the ceremonies, the drumming, the dancing... and with such beautiful people. ~On the way home from Green Corn I picked up my niece Vicki, and after spending a week here, the two of us flew to Florida for a visit with my parents. Fortunately, my parents were on the East coast, just south of Orlando, so the damage from the hurricane was minimal, just a few gusts of wind and some rain. ~As I said, I have been going non-stop... the day I returned from Florida, Bruce and I went to the Wilmington Blues Festival with our friend Bob. Then the following morning Bruce and I drove to Ship Bottom, New Jersey and spent the night visiting with his sister Patti, her husband Dwain, and their two children. They were down from Connecticut for a family vacation. ~Last weekend we were off to see Mad Agnes perform at Cooldog House Concerts, and the following day, to Dover downs to see Crosby, Stills, and Nash; Peter Frampton; Creedance Clearwater; ELO; and Bo Didley. Awesome concert!!!! In addition to all of this we have been busy with working, mowing the pastures, weed~eating, putting up fencing, and doing the usual farm chores. ~Saturday I went to a picnic in Rising Sun with my friend DL, and I got to see Shadow's dad, CAL Midnight Enchanter again. He is still as gorgeous as ever. In fact, his photo recently appeared in the local Rising Sun Herald. ~Bruce is on vacation this week so we ended up bringing his Nephew Tyler down for a few days. He's been a lot of fun. Bruce has been taking him out on the river for a swim every afternoon. ~Update on the Animals: Gypsy is still in foal, and because it is a high risk pregnancy, we are still treating her. If she carries full term, she will probably foal in December or January. Hopefully we will have a better idea as the time draws closer. Lakota had taken a bad turn this last week, and we considered having her euthanized her until I spoke with my friend Lynn who has Lakota's sister Vassey. Vassey has had similar problems, so I spoke with my vet and we decided to try the same treatment. What a difference. Lakota is now doing wonderful. In dog years she is a geriatric at age 97. And we have successfully bought her a little more time. Well, I'm tired and have another busy day tomorrow. Hope all is well with everyone. Take care. |

JULY 18, 2004 ~In celebration of our birthdays (mine, Bruce's and my brother Gregg's), we had a campfire last evening, and were joined by some of our friends from Pennsyslyvania, as well as several of the locals. They had been calling for rain, but despite a few drops here and there, the rain did not fall until sometime after 4:00 a.m., when I finally retired to bed. The rain gauge this morning measured nearly 5 inches of rainfall. Our friends Kathy and Harry came over, and Harry played guitar, while Kathy took several photos. Both are quite talented. It was a fun evening. NEW PAGE: Baby Doll. UPDATE: Casland O Suzannah |

JULY 13, 2004 ~I hadn't had the chance to post the update of July 7th, so I will post it with today's update. Just a quick note concerning Gypsy (read below). So far she has not aborted, and we are continuing to treat her with antibiotics and Regumate. ~Bruce took me out to the Granary for my birthday. It was a nice dinner. I had a big salad with crab meat. It was really good... I always enjoy watching the sunset over the water. There was a man at the table right beside us who also had the same birthday. ~After I had hand dug about 16 holes and set the posts for the new fencing, Bruce and I rented an auger over the weekend and drilled about 30 holes. It sure beats doing it by hand. That evening our friends Kathy and Will had us over for dinner for our birthdays. It was great to relax and have someone else prepare the meal. After a hard day in the sun, a full stomach, and a few glasses of wine, we were both falling asleep by 11:00 p.m., which is unusual for us on a weekend. As for Sunday... we could do nothing to get ourselves motivated. But it sure is nice to finally get the new paddocks started before the foals arrive. UPDATES: Raven, new photos; Coyote, new photos |
