"Mandella" joined our family of critters in late June of
2008. We had previously believed that he was a female and named him "Summer".
In late
September we began to notice dramatic changes.  August 4, 2008 |
Changes, that as you can see in the photographs
below, are quite apparent. We are now convinced that our Mandarin is
indeed a male, and have changed his name accordingly, from "Summer" to "Mandella".

 Mandella has befriended Winter, and the two of them enjoy paddling around in their little pool together. |

It has been amazing to witness the changes taking place
between October 15 and Oct. 22nd. Mandella grows more beautiful with
each passing day. We have added an addition to our aviary and have moved Mandella and Winter with the Grey and Harlequin Call Ducks. They all get along very well. |

In the spring of 2009 I purchased Rozzanna a White Mandarin female as a companion for Mandella. At first, Mandella was reluctant to leave Winter's side, but as summer approached I moved Mandella and Rozzanna into the Swan Suite. They are now courting, and we are looking forward to seeing how their relationship progresses in the spring. |
