	MITAKOLA SHADOW DANCER "DANCER" By MITAKOLA MIDNIGHT SPECIAL x DREAM ACRES MELODY 1998 Black colt
"Dancer" was born in 1998, and was the first foal by MITAKOLA MIDNIGHT SPECIAL out of DREAM ACRES MELODY. He was named "Shadow Dancer" in honor of the spirited black colt in my up coming novel, WIND~IN~THE~ GRASSES~DANCING.

	Dancer was purchased at nine months old as a stallion prospect by Rhonda Thompson of Colorado. She had initially inquired about breeding her mare to Shadow and asked if I had a video of his offspring. She was so impressed with the tape that she called to speak with me about purchasing "Dancer."
Though I was thrilled at the prospect that she was willing to purchase Dancer without having seen him personally, I found myself with reservations about sending one of my foals so far from home, not knowing what kind of life I was surrendering him to. But my fears were soon checked when I had again spoke with Rhonda and she had expressed her concern about getting Dancer safely to Colorado. Safety was her priority, not expense.
	In early April of 1999, Dancer was loaded onto a trailer bound for Colorado, and after five days of travel he arrived in the midst of an evening snowstorm. Since Rhonda’s lane had not been plowed to accommodate the tractor trailer, Dancer had to be unloaded at the Acme parking lot and reloaded into Rhonda’s trailer which could more easily handle the lane. This was the first time that Rhonda had set eyes on the black colt, and her first impression could not have been better, nor could Dancer's disposition have been any easier. Rhonda was thrilled.
In June of 2002, on my way to Montana, I had the opportunity and the pleasure of meeting Rhonda, and to visit with Dancer… He looked wonderful, and his new home was more than I could have wished for... but saying good-buy for the second time, was no less heartbreaking.	Dancer has been trained western and is currently being used to herd cattle.

DANCER'S OFFSPRING

In 2001 Dancer was bred to two of Rhonda’s Morgans, and the following year he produced two gorgeous colts, Cowboy and Banjo.
