LUTA and HOTA meet the kids.
on NOVember 26,  we moved the youngest of our herd into the barn for the winter... bimzy, sioux Zanna, dusty, Tatanka and cloud. THey all appear to be settling in together, quite nicely.  frosty, trails, panda, pogo, and nanu joined them soon after.

ERIC and LUTA

We wish to extend a special thanks to our nephew Eric.
due to his patience and hard work, he has successfully helped to make luta and hota people friendly.

what a wonderful christmas gift to all of us.

great job ERIc !!!

CINDER

Taylor and Niki with Cinder
Cinder is our most recent addition. He is a harlequin bunny that we recently rescued from the auction. He has a defective eyelid that is turned inward and will require surgery.
surgery on a rabbit can be extremely dangerous because they do not always take well to the anesthesia. since cinder suffers with continuous inflammation and an ulcer to the eye which could eventually lead to the removal of the eye, we have opted to take our chances with the surgery and have scheduled the procedure for January 14th.

SILKY CHICKENS

purchased on November 14th... two black silky chickens. They came as a pair. THOUGH THE LARGER ONE WAS PREVIOUSLY THOUGHT TO BE A CHICKEN, sHE HAS BEGUN TO CROW and has taken on the characteristic strut of a rooster.  the other, we believe, is a chick.

Both are extremely friendly.

My Nieces have named them:

GRUMPY ELMO

and

HAPPY DORA

FRANKIE DOODLE

FRANKIE DOODLE is a boer wether. He was a gift to us from danielle and chris bove.  we had never owned a goat, and were a little apprehensive as to whether he would fit in with our menagerie.  As it turned out, he won our hearts and drove us to our new venture... MORE goats.  in addition to the boys we have purchased two dwarf doelings which we plan to breed in the 2008 season.

HENRIETTA

HENRIETTA
HENRIETTA was acquired in September of 2007. She is a real sweetheaRt. Unfortunately, she has a crooked beak and hobbles, as one leg appears to be longer than the other. She is still maturing and we are monitoring her weight and her health to be sure that she's getting enough to eat with her deformed beak. So Far, she is growing at a fair rate.

SAPA

Sapa was acquired in september, along with henrietta and shiloh.

Sapa and HENRIETTA

WE regret that SAPA, SHILOH, and HENRIETTA are no longer with us. during the evening of November 24th a dog broke into the chicken pen, and we have not seen them since. They are dearly missed.

ARLIE PIG

ARLIE pig has been a member of our family since 1998.  He was purchased in Florida while I was visiting my parents. After buying a personAL cargo carrier and a plane ticket, ARLIE arrived here at his new home at the the age of four months.

Poochie

POOCHIE has been a member of our family since 1999.  sHe came to live at the barn at the age of one, along with her brother sylvester.  Their crimb... climbing on the hood of our friend's new pick-up truck.

commanche

Commanche has been a member of our family since 2005.  He was a stray kitten of approximately six months that was roaming the boat yard. My sister brought him to me because he resembled sylvester.

sylvester was hit by a car the previous winter.

cree

Cree has also been a member of our family since 2005.  my friend danielle was trying to find a home for him because his owner no longer wanted him and preferred to have him destroyed rather than take him to the humane society.  he has turned out to be an incredible companion to the kids, and is kind and gentle.
all of our barn cats come to the petting zoo
whenever they please. it is not uncommon to see one of them lounging in a chair or stretched out on the picnic table.
