RING NECK PHEASANT

Rex ~ November 6, 2008

Rex is a male Ring Neck Pheasant. I purchased him on May 28 of 2008.  At that time he was no bigger than the average size chicken egg.  It has been fun watching him grow.

We recently purchased Rhiannah, a female Ring Neck approximately the same age as Rex.  We acclimated her and placed her in the pen with Rex and the Peacocks. She is doing well.

At three months old Rex's color is becoming more vibrant and he's beginning to develop his tail feathers.

While growing up in Pennsylvania I would often catch a fleeting glimpse of  a Ringneck Pheasant crossing the road or following the tree line behind our house. But my view of the Ringneck Pheasant had always been from a distance.

Having raised Rex from a tiny chick,  I have grown quite fond of him. He is friendly, and is constantly conversing with  me.
