THE SACRED MEDICINE WHEEL has been honored by Native American Cultures for centuries. It is comprised of everything that is. Of everything in the Universe, whether known or unknown. It is the symbol of the Sacred Hoop, the Circle of Life. For everything in life is centered around the Circle. The Moon is a Circle. The Sun and the Stars. Every grain of sand and every drop of water. The season’s follow a Circle. All of life walks the path of a Circle. A circle of birth, death, and rebirth. A circle with no beginning, and no end. A Sacred Wheel.
The Medicine Wheel is a place where each person can experience the
cycles of life and the lessons that each direction of the Sacred Hoop
has to offer as they complete their journey on the Good Red Road. The
Winds of each direction are represented by a color, an animal, an
element, an energy, a season, and a Power Time. Each may vary slightly
from tribe to tribe. The color of the North is white, place of Wisdom and Generosity. The animal is the Buffalo. The elememt is Fire, and energy is Elder. The season is Winter, and the Power time is Mid-Night. The Medicine Wheel has much to teach us. If one learns to Listen to the voice within and open One's heart, the gifts and the lessons that the animals of each direction have to offer us, are immeasurable.
