Phoenix
6 months old |
On April 1st of 2009 I purchased three newborn chicks. I
raised them in the house until the weather warmed up in June.
The Phoenix is an ancient Japanese breed of long tail fowl whose heritage can be traced
back as far as one thousand years. They are an ornamental bird and are
not promoted as egg layers.
Because the cock birds are known for their long tails, which average
between five to ten feet, we housed them in the Swan Suite where there
is an abundance of high perches.
They are hardy, and extremely docile, even the cock birds are known for
their wonderful disposition. |
