MITAKOLA SUGAR
& SPICE
Though you
walked the earth but a short time, Those days were some of the happiest
of my life. What an honor to have experienced
The joy and laughter that you brought to my heart.
I called your birth "a miracle" and truly believed it,
But when you passed on to join the ancestors,
There were those who asked,
"How can it be a miracle when the little twins died?"
I thought about this word, "Miracle,"
And what I say to you is this,
"When something is so spectacular
That it touches you in such a way
That it brings great joy to your heart
If even for a fraction of a moment,
Then I say to you, This is a Miracle."
And as I walk the path to my Medicine Lodge,
Past the place were you peacefully rest,
Where the wind whispers your name,
The flowers blossom,
And the pristine snow blankets the earth,
Such joy and laughter
You shall again bring to my heart.
For all the days of my life...
You shall not be forgotten.
Thank you my
little friends.

When "Socks" died, I took her
home to our farm and my husband Bruce helped me to bury her up in the
woods under the trees near the place where several of our pets have been
buried. When the owner, Carey, learned that I had buried
"Socks", she sent me some money to buy something for the grave.
I decided that I would plant a perennial garden in her honor. The
following day I purchased several flowers, as well as a stepping stone
with a mare and foal. I had no idea at the time that Spirit would have me
embarking on yet another journey...A journey that was to become
"Crazy Horse Sanctuary." |
