White Peacock

"Banjo"

November, 2008

Banjo is a two year old male purchased from Clint Walker on November 8, 2008.
Banjo shares a pen in the Aviary with Pejuta and WiyaPi, Jasmine, Windchime, Wakina, Rex, Rhiannah, and Silver.

Banjo appears to get along well with Pejuta and Windchime - male bonding, I suppose. But I'm sure that will change as they mature and mating season rounds the corner.

I was amazed at the transformation in Banjo from November thru February. The photos below don't even come close to doing justice to this majestic bird.

This photo was taken with a flash-Banjo's eyes are actually blue.

MORE ABOUT THE WHITE PEACOCK...

White peacocks are one of the rarest breeds of peacocks and make up less than 1% of the world peacock population.

Though the White Peacock is frequently mistaken for an albino, it is thought to be a color mutation of the Indian Blue Peafowl.

A White Peacock lacks coloration in all parts of the body except in the eye, which is blue.

Peacocks, like people, have very distinct and individual personalities.

A male is called a peacock, and a female, a peahen.
